So, have we hit bottom, or are we just bouncing off a ledge?  All we need is a Wilhelm Scream to make things complete.

It sound like Speaker Pelosi didn't help things with her speech casting blame on Bush and company.  Of course, we know that it is Bush and company that really got us in this mess, but she should have held her tongue.   What can I expect, though... it's in the fine Democratic Party tradition of snatching defeat from the possible jaws of victory.  Like at the Wellstone memorial (see: Speech via NPR).   A lot of times leadership is shown not by opening one's mouth, but by not opening one's mouth.  Sometimes you have to just hold your nose, keep your mouth shut, and soldier on.  What was she afraid of?  That someone would think that the Democrats actually liked the bill?  Everyone knows it's a bad deal...but sometimes the bad deal is better than no deal at all.  As of this writing the DOW crashed down 700 or so points.   Swell.  It's probably going to be doing even sweller tomorrow.  Oh well... good time to bottom feed.
