With all the run-up to the RNC it's good to remember that there's a hurricane barreling up on the Mississippi delta.  All the talk has been about New Orleans.  I've not heard anyone talk about the Old River Control Structure.  Click on the link to find out about the structure, and then read on...

OK, back now?

When the control structure fails the Mississippi is going to change course and wipe out Morgan City.  That's a "when" not "if".  Betting on Man against The River is a sucker bet.  New Orleans?  Left soggy and silted in.  Morgan City?  Gone.  Totally.

So, if you want to worry about something, worry about the Control Structure.

OK... off to take a little side trip and see if I can look down the hill and see all the preparations for the RNC.  Two Really Big busses/remote studios rolled by our house this morning.  MSNBC is on the move!  It's kind of interesting being just a mile from the convention hall.
